‍Hi, and welcome - we're genuinely glad you're here.

This is the very first post on the Data Hive Consulting blog, and we wanted to start the way we start every client relationship: with a straightforward conversation, not a sales pitch.

Why We're Doing This

We spend our days in the world of Corporate and Enterprise Performance Management - helping finance teams across ANZ and beyond move off spreadsheets and disconnected systems, and onto platforms like Workday Adaptive Planning and OneStream that let them plan, forecast, consolidate, and report with confidence.

Along the way, we've picked up a lot. Lessons from over 150 CPM/EPM implementations. Stories from finance leaders who've gone from a 19-day close to a 4-day close. Hard-won knowledge about what actually makes a transformation stick, versus what just adds another tool to the pile.

This blog is where we'll start sharing that. Not because we think we have all the answers, but because we think the finance community deserves more honest, practical thinking about what's really possible - and what isn't yet.

What You Can Expect

A few things you'll find here regularly:

  • Real stories from the field - what worked, what didn't, and what we'd do differently

  • Straight talk on AI in finance - where it genuinely helps, and where it's still no substitute for a proper data foundation

  • Practical guidance on CPM/EPM - from choosing the right platform to getting the data foundation right before you implement anything

  • News from our team and the industry - including updates on events we’ve attended and also upcoming events where you can learn and connect with us in person

Who We Are

We're former finance leaders, Chartered Accountants, and project delivery specialists - not external consultants parachuting in with jargon. As our founder, Martin Kudlik, puts it: we try to become an extension of your team, understanding what your business actually needs, and just as importantly, what it doesn't.

That's the same spirit we're bringing to this blog. We'd rather write one honest, useful post than ten that just fill space.
